Last week someone on F&F posted about a Lenten journal she did about/for her husband. She wrote about how God has blessed her with her husband. And about all the things he does for her etc. I thought it was a great idea. So I picked up a journal at the dollar store. When I explained my Lenten project to Captain Awesome he looked at the journal. Then preceded to tell me that the journal I picked up was far too small to have enough room in it to write all of his good traits and endeavors:D

A touch of arrogance as we begin Lent
Our Lenten Family Altar
While all the good Catholics are busy covering their pictures, crucifixes etc with purple fabric. I'm setting out tons of Lenten images. I love the Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday sets....so do the kiddos. I wonder if these are going to make it another Lenten season? The kiddos have been having a blast banging them on top of the altar.
Cutie Pie absolutely loves the Stations of the Cross candles. She says she can't wait to go through them. I suppose this is because I'm such an awesome Catholic mother. She could be nothing less than religiously gifted:D haha
Lent
Captain Awesome always wants to give up pop for Lent. So I stopped buying pop about a week and a half ago. We still have had a pop here and there. But, I haven't bought a case of it. I didn't want a case sitting in our fridge when Lent started.

Lenten French Paper Nun
I saw this idea in a book titled Pancakes and Painted Eggs by Jean Chapman. Long ago when it wasn't common to have a calendar. The children in France made paper nuns to keep track of the weeks of Lent.
I promise these don't take much time to make. Trace out a simple nun on thicker paper. I started at the bottom of her skirt making sure it was long enough so I would have enough space for seven legs. All the feet need to be pointed in the same direction. I wanted ours to be on black paper. I know that isn't good for photos.
